Helsinki is a beautiful city – compact and easy to move around. This morning you have a audio coach tour past the most interesting parts of Helsinki – the historical centre, City Hall, The Parliament buildings, Finlandia Hall and the Opera House. See the Sibelius Monuments and the Temppeliaukio Church (Rock Church).

Early evening departure by overnight train to Rovaniemi. Don’t forget to visit the on board restaurant for a drink with the locals and to try Finnish meatballs and mash.

Morning arrival in Rovaniemi. Before heading off to Pyhätunturi, we’ll call in at the well known Santa Village. If you have young children, a visit to Santa Park will give them their first sprinkling of Christmas magic.

Next stop Pyhätunturi, your home for the next six nights. One and a half hours away, sit back and enjoy the mesmerising winter views along the drive.

Ready for days of fun and magic in this winter wonderland? Bring out your inner child and try tobogganing, downhill and cross country skiing, fat biking, ice carting or snowshoe walking – it’s all right there for you to enjoy. Don’t forget to sip some hot chocolate in between all your activities; and for the adults, add a dash of Minttu peppermint liqueur to warm your toes!

This morning’s a good opportunity to take a chair lift ride to the top of the Pyhätunturi fell for sweeping views of the surrounding countryside and lake. If you feel chilly, pop into the cosy Tsokka restaurant for a warm drink.

Pyhä ski slopes are a great place to learn if you’re a first timer. If speeding down ski slopes is not your thing, try something a little more energetic and picturesque – cross country skiing. The ski shop is well equipped with everything needed for both activities and English speaking ski instructors are on hand. Slopes are also floodlit so you can ski before sunrise and after sunset.

Situated 20 minutes from Pyhätunturi in the village of Luosto, is the world’s northernmost Amethyst Mine.

The Mine’s, perched on top of the fell, is a unique and interesting place. Even the transfer to the Mine is exciting – in a carriage behind a snow tractor. After a presentation on the mine, it’s time to dig for your own lucky stone.

Prepare yourself for that once-in-a-lifetime event – meeting Santa. We have a special arrangement with Santa to visit him in his secret place he goes to relax before heading off to deliver presents to excited children all over the world. You do need a personal invitation to visit him so recommend good behaviour during the year as his elves travel the world checking on boys and girls of all ages. No-one is too young – or old – to escape the attention of the those busy elves. You have been warned!

But, if you’ve not been on your best behaviour dont’t worry, word from the elves is that Santa does love a good Finnish Christmas pipari biscuit, so before we meet him, we’ll do some biscuit baking. Better make sure these are the best biscuits ever!

Time to meet Lapland’s most famous animal – reindeers. Sit back, relax and enjoy a sleigh ride through the snow laden forest absorbing the silence and beauty of your pristine surroundings.

Dinner this evening will be a sumptuous Christmas feast with a wide selection of hot and cold buffet. Remember to save your appetite!

Dreaming of being a husky musher? These huskies are a strong spirited bunch who can pull up to five times their weight without any effort! After an introduction to the huskies and a quick driving course, it’s time to test your skills; it’s time to head off! Pulled by your own husky team and with a passenger in your sleigh; expect a speedy ride—hold on to your beanie!
