This – is – IT! The Ultimate Finnish Lapland Bucket List holiday combining sophisticated Helsinki with magical Lapland, it has it all! This holiday is designed to immerse you in all which makes this Arctic destination an enchanting winter wonderworld. In between all the activities, it allows some freedom for you to customise your adventure, ensuring your stay perfectly matches your desires. To top it all off, you’ll either begin or end your tour on an unforgettable high note with a night in a glass igloo, offering you the chance to witness the spectacular Northern Lights from the comfort of your bed. This is the ultimate bucket list experience!
Arrive Rovaniemi to the magic of the Arctic! Make your way to your hotel (transfer from airport or station can be arranged on request). Please note official check-in time is 15.00 (3pm) but luggage can be stored at the hotel if your arrival is before check in time.
Early this evening, meet your tour escort who will go over the details of the days ahead – days filled with excitement and fun!
Prepare yourself this morning for a pure enchantment experience – a visit to the world known Santa Claus Village! You’ll have ample free time to meet Santa, send a postcard from the Post Office and officially step across the Arctic Circle line, right there in Santa Village.
Next up, time to meet Lapland’s most iconic animals – reindeers! After a sedate short sleigh ride, you’ll receive a special certificate to proudly show off to your friends back home.
As night falls, you’ll transfer by coach or car to an area away from the city lights, setting the stage for potential celestial wonders! Enjoy hot drinks around a cosy fire and to round off a memorable experience, toast marshmallows on the fire.
Set off after breakfast by coach to Ranua Wildlife Park, a scenic drive 160km from Rovaniemi. On the way, you’ll stop at a husky farm where you’ll learn all about these incredible dogs and – brace yourself – for a speedy exhilarating 3km ride. After the drive, there will be free time to meet the dogs and create Insta moments.
Next stop – the northernmost zoo in the world. Walking through the zoo with your local guide, you’ll be introduced to the diverse arctic occupants: majestic elk, graceful reindeer, cunning wolverines, elusive arctic foxes, and of course, the magnificent polar bear! Before you depart for Rovaniemi, don’t miss the chance to shop for the famous Finnish Fazer chocolate. They are legend!
After an exciting day, return to your hotel for evening at leisure.
Get ready for an adrenaline rush – it’s snowmobiling time! After being provided with your gear and receiving safety and instructions, you’ll set off on drive through snow-laden forests and across frozen rivers. A stop will be made for hot drinks and a chance to soak in the serene silence of the Arctic wilderness.
Drivers must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driving license (B), which will need to be produced. Children aged 0-14 years will be seated in a sleigh pulled behind the guide’s snowmobile and parents with small children will need to accompany them in the sleigh.
If you have any free time left after your safari, we highly recommend a visit to the Arktikum museum to delve into the rich history and culture of the Sami, the indigenous people of Lapland.
As the afternoon fades to evening, prepare for a truly magical experience – a night in a heated glass igloo. From your position lying on your bed under the glass roof of your igloo, you’ll have a clear view of the magnificent black sky, sprinkled with stars. Stars are a good sign – it’s a sign that the sky is clear and chances of seeing the Northern Lights if they are out dancing, are increased. What a perfect way to end a fairytale holiday.
Enjoy a final breakfast before checking out and transferring to the airport or station for your onward journey (can be arranged on request). Please note that flights or trains back to Helsinki are not included but can be arranged upon request.
