Itinerary

Arrive in Norway’s second-largest city, surrounded by seven mountains and fjords. Two nights of accommodation are provided at a centrally located hotel.

Day at leisure to explore Bergen, often referred to as the Gateway to the Fjords. Highlights include the Hanseatic Bryggen Wharf, Fløibanen Funicular, the composer Edvard Grieg’s home (Troldhaugen), the Fish Market, Bergen Aquarium, and Gamle Bergen (Old Bergen Open Air Museum). For a more active option, a sightseeing tour by Segway can be arranged.

Your Norway in a Nutshell tour begins by train from Bergen to Voss. The journey continues by bus via Stalheimskleiva with its 13 hairpin bends, and through the Nærøyfjord Valley to Gudvangen. From there, a fjord cruise across the UNESCO-listed Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord leads to Flåm. The afternoon can be spent discovering Flåm and its surroundings—hiking, bike rental, and kayaking are available. One night’s accommodation is provided in a hotel in the town centre.

Continue on your Norway in a Nutshell tour and board the famous Flåm Railway, which climbs through dramatic scenery to Myrdal (900 metres above sea level). In Myrdal, transfer to the Bergen Railway for a scenic five-hour train ride to Oslo. Two nights’ accommodation are arranged in the city centre.

Day at leisure in Oslo. The capital, located at the head of the Oslofjord and surrounded by forested hills, offers numerous sights including the Opera House, Vigeland Sculpture Park, and the Munch Museum. A guided bike tour is a popular way to experience the city.

A morning at leisure in Oslo before boarding the overnight ferry to Copenhagen in the afternoon. Accommodation is in a 2-berth private outside cabin aboard DFDS Seaways.

Morning arrival in Copenhagen, the Danish capital. Two nights of accommodation are provided in the city centre. With more than 1,000 years of history, Copenhagen is home to the world’s oldest monarchy, beautifully preserved medieval streets, inspiring design heritage, and charming canals.

Day at leisure. A walking tour focused on the Danish concept of Hygge is highly recommended for those interested in local culture.

Travel by train to Stockholm. The Swedish capital is built across 14 islands and offers a mix of medieval charm and modern innovation. Nearby, an archipelago of 24,000 islands is waiting to be explored. Recommended sights include the Vasa Museum, Skansen Open Air Museum, Stockholm City Hall, and Gamla Stan (the Old Town). Two nights of accommodation are arranged in the city centre.

Day at leisure in Stockholm. A boat tour of the archipelago is considered a must-do experience.

Morning at leisure. Suggest a visit to the hip neighbourhood of Södermalm and for shopping, Norrmalm is recommended and well worth the visit. Late afternoon departure for Helsinki by overnight cruise.

After breakfast on board, exploration of the Finnish capital begins. Highlights include the Senate Square, Presidential Palace, City Hall, Market Square, and Uspenski Cathedral. The Esplanade Park leads to the Parliament, the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, and Temppeliaukio Church (Rock Church). Two nights of accommodation are provided in the city centre.

Day at leisure. During the summer, hop-on hop-off buses offer a convenient way to discover the city. In winter, a panorama bus tour is recommended.

Check out and depart as per own arrangements.

Consider adding a visit to Tallinn, Estonia and if you have more time, continuing to Latvia and Lithuania. Highly recommended.
