Explore the museum island of Bygdøy, The Vigeland statue park or the famous Holmenkollen ski jump. The city is easy to walk, a suggested route is along the fjord a promenade of approximately 9km. Overnight in a centrally located hotel.
This morning, you will depart by train from Oslo to Myrdal, From Myrdal to Flåm, you will travel the famous Flåmsbana, a train journey described as one of the most beautiful in the world. The 20km railway was completed in 1940 and is one of the steepest standard gauge lines in the world. Arrival in Flåm, a village located at the inner end of the Aurlandsfjord. Overnight.
From Flåm board a fjord cruise, as you pass through the Nærøyfjord to Gudvangen. The Nærøyfjord is listed on UNESSCO’s world heritage list. Arrival in Gudvangen, an old Viking village with a lot of character. Depart Gudvangen by bus to Bergen. Arrival in Bergen and overnight in a centrally located hotel.
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before embarking on a day of exploration in Bergen, often hailed as the ‘Capital of the Fjords’. Surrounded by majestic mountains and fjords, including Norway’s longest and deepest, the Sognefjord, this charming city invites leisurely strolls. Don’t miss a visit to Bryggen, renowned for its colorful wooden houses, and take a ride on the Fløibanen funicular for stunning city views.
Later, check in and board Havila as you prepare for a seven-day northbound voyage along Norway’s captivating coast. Departing from Bergen, you’ll sail to Ålesund, famed for its art nouveau architecture and picturesque brick houses. Continuing to Trondheim, a city steeped in over 1000 years of history, explore the iconic Nidaros Cathedral, a hallmark of the city.
Journey northward, crossing the Arctic Circle to reach the enchanting Lofoten Islands, known for their quaint fishing villages and rugged mountains. Next, arrive in Tromsø, a city that has recently undergone significant development. Continue sailing northward to the iconic North Cape, marking the northernmost point accessible by both land and sea—a highlight for many on this voyage.
Your final destination is Kirkenes, where you’ll disembark from Havila and settle into your centrally located hotel for the night, reflecting on the unforgettable journey through Norway’s breathtaking landscapes and vibrant cities.
