A tour that offers you unforgettable, exclusive overnight stays and takes you to the most magnificent winter destinations in Finland. Our tour starts in the capital city of Finland – Helsinki is a vibrant, cultural and modern city, at the cross-roads of east and west. From Helsinki you travel north to Rovaniemi, the arctic city in the heart of Lapland and official home of Santa Claus. Here you will spend two nights in the miraculous Arctic Treehouse hotel. Transfer from Rovaniemi to experience the polar ice breaker before arriving in Kemi. Spend one last magical night in one of Kemi’s Seaside Glass Villas.
Arrival at airport Helsinki and transfer to boutique Hotel Haven, which is an elegant and stylish hideaway in the heart of Helsinki and a stone’s throw from the sea. After checking in at the hotel you can enjoy the rest of your day at leisure. Our suggested top ten are the Temppeliaukio Church (The Rock Church), Helsinki Cathedral, Esplanade Park, The Sibelius monument, Havis Amanda Fountain, Uspensky Orthodox Cathedral, Finlandia Hall, Presidential Palace (Presidentinlinna), Kiasma Art Museum and Suomenlinna Maritime Sea Fortress (outside city centre).
After breakfast, enjoy your remaining hours to explore the Finnish capital – you have enough time to continue ticking away the suggested sights of interest. In the evening you will take an overnight train to Rovaniemi. Meals are available during the journey. A comfortable sleeping cabin is reserved for this overnight journey.
Breakfast is not included this morning but is for purchase in the restaurant car of the train. Arrive Rovaniemi and transfer to the Arctic Treehouse hotel, your accommodation for the two coming nights. The concept of Arctic Treehouse hotel has its roots in fragile arctic nature, the fairy tale world of Santa Park, and northern culture and heritage. The hotel consists of individual accommodation units covered by wooden shingles and standing on tall poles between the trees. Appearing to wander down the hill and curiously peeking at the landscape and sky, they blend into their environment effortlessly. All the buildings are made of Finnish wood, a traditional, sustainable and renewable material. The green roof helps in managing urban runoff and brings the building’s footprint’s worth of vegetation back to the construction site. The wood on the interior surfaces creates a comfortable environment, healthy indoor air and pleasant acoustics. After check-in you can use the rest of the day explore Rovaniemi and experience its winter activities such as reindeer safaris, husky safaris and snowmobile safaris.
After breakfast you have the full day to keep exploring the ‘capital’ of Finnish Lapland. Today, don’t miss the opportunity of visiting the famous Santa Claus village, meet Santa and send a postcard from Santa’s post office. There is a lot to see and do in Rovaniemi, from simply enjoying your surroundings to partaking in fun filled adventures.
After breakfast a transfer will take you from Rovaniemi to Axelsvik port, located in Båtskärsnäs. You board the impressive ice breaker and get ready for your three-hour cruise in the frozen waters of the Bothnian sea. The cruise is guided, and you have the chance to visit the engine rooms as well as the captain’s bridge. During the stop, you can walk on the frozen ice, and for those seeking a little more adventure, in survival suits you can swim in the frozen sea. After the cruise, a transfer to Kemi will bring you to tonight’s accommodation, the stylish Seaside Glass Villas. The villas are equipped with a small kitchen and bathroom, but their main feature are the two glass walls and the glass ceiling, which give you an unobstructed view of the sea and the night sky. It is a cozy place to snuggle up and enjoy nature’s incredible light show – the Northern Lights. If you are still feeling adventurous, we recommend a dinner in the snow castle (not included).
After breakfast, a transfer will take you to Kemi airport where it is time to say goodbye to this magical place on earth.
