Your adventure begins in Rovaniemi, the vibrant capital of Finnish Lapland and home to Santa Claus Village. Experience days filled with all the amazing activities Lapland has to offer. This is truly a winter wonderland and a holiday for all to enjoy, no matter what their age.
Arrive Rovaniemi and transfer to your hotel. In the evening, meet your tour escort in the hotel lobby for a welcome information session during which you’ll receive details of the programme for the following days.
Start your day with a shot of adrenaline & speed – snowmobiling. Join a 2 hour guided snowmobile safari taking you through forests and across frozen rivers. Take a break half way hot drink around the fire. To drive the snowmobile, an international driving license of B category is required. If you don’t have a licence, you will travel as a passenger with another person. Children travel in a sleigh pulled by a guide. All safari equipment provided.
This afternoon visit a reindeer farm. This safari will be a sedate one and an opportunity to sit back, relax and enjoy your wilderness surroundings. After the ride and seated in a ‘kota’ tepee with a hot drink, the herder will share stories about reindeer herding in Lapland.
The day begins with a visit to the magical Santa Village where you’ll have free time for visiting Santa, sending a postcard from his post office and get some shopping done.
Next up – huskies and your chance to test your husky mushing skills! They’re an excitable lot and eager to set off so be ready for a speedy ride through the forest. After the safari you’ll warm up around an open fire before visiting the husky kennels. .
Dinner is included this evening. After dinner, transfer by coach to an area outside of the town, away from light pollution, to search for the Northern Lights.
Your guide will share information on Arctic nature, culture and history of the local people. As always, you’ll have a hot drinks and a fire to warm you.
Free day to explore Rovaniemi and its surroundings. Why not visit the magnificent Arktikum Museum with its interesting and engaging display about the Sami, the only ethnic nomadic people who have inhabited Northern Scandinavia for thousands of years.
