This tour will give you an overview of Stockholm and Helsinki, as well as an entertaining cruise between these two Nordic capitals. See the Stockholm and Helsinki archipelago as you sail slowly past the numerous small islands.
Please note that availability for hotels in the city may be limited on certain dates due to professional conferences (congresses) or other major events. Therefore, we are not always able to guarantee accommodation in the heart of the city centre.
Your holiday begins at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport where your driver await to greet you and escort you to your hotel in the heart of Sweden’s remarkable capital. As a city spread over 14 islands, there is no shortage of scenic waterfronts if you’d prefer to spend your first evening exploring on foot. From your hotel, you’ll find that many attractions, restaurants and pubs are within easy walking distance. Suggested attractions include the Vasa Ship Museum or City Hall’s famous Blue Hall, site of the annual Nobel Prize banquet. This is also a great opportunity to explore the charming Gamla Stan (Old Town) with its narrow alleys, medieval houses and cosy cafes for coffee or cocktails. Spend the night in Stockholm.
After breakfast at the hotel, start the day with a city sightseeing tour by bus, which takes you around the most significant landmarks in the capital, including the Royal Palace. Later in the afternoon, spend an enchanted evening on the sea as a cruise ship whisks you away to Helsinki, Finland’s stylish capital. Take full advantage of the on-board amenities including cafes, restaurants, and shops and spend the night in one of the ship’s comfortable cabins.
The ship will dock in Helsinki in the morning, giving you the whole day to explore the city. You can either take a sightseeing tour around town or stroll around on your own. We recommend you to visit attractions such as Senate Square, Uspenski Cathedral, Parliament House, Finlandia Hall, the New Opera House, or the Sibelius Park and Monument. Another interesting landmark is the Kauppatori market place, which is overflowing with fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh fish, furs and souvenirs. Also worth visiting is the UNESCO World Heritage Site Suomenlinna (Sveaborg) Island and Fortress before getting on the ship in the late afternoon for the return to Stockholm. Since you are travelling back in the same cabin, your luggage can stay in the room while you explore the city.
Savour the maritime scenery during breakfast as the ship navigates through Sweden’s Archipelago, a collection of over 30,000 islands and inlets. After pulling into the harbor at Stockholm at around 10:00 you will make your own way back to Arlanda Airport. If your flights is in the afternoon you will have time to further explore the beautiful Old Town or to do some shopping in the great department stores and shops downtown.
