From Tromsø airport, you can take the airport shuttle (included) to the city center. During this day, we would suggest you take a day at your leisure and check out one of the many interesting sights in Tromsø. These may include the Polar Museum, Northern Light Planetarium and Tromsø Museum. The arctic city of Tromsø is the most northern university town and the largest city above the Arctic Circle. Due to the city’s location right in the middle of the planet’s Northern Light’s belt, Tromsø offers the world’s best chances of spotting the Northern Lights. After breakfast in your hotel, join a fjord photo tour taking you along a scenic route through valleys and fjords, passing many beautiful sea views, lakes, beaches, and iconic bridges. You may even be lucky to encounter reindeer on the route.
Leaving the fjord landscapes of Tromsø behind, continue by coach to the tundra wilderness area of Kilpisjärvi in Finland. At leisure to explore the area around your hotel by snowshoe. As evening approaches, look upwards just in case the Northern Lights have come out to play.
After breakfast this morning, set off on a snowmobile safari into the tundra area. If you’re wanting a special Instagram picture, then make sure you get a picture standing on the land points where Finland, Sweden and Norway meet.
Leaving Kilpisjärvi behind and aboard your comfortable coach, continue to Rovaniemi passing thought the villages of Levi and Kittilä.
Today is all yours to explore Rovaniemi. How about testing your balance with a bit of ice skating at Kotatieva Winter park with it’s 500 metre track through the middle of the forest. Or, if you prefer, spend your time at Santa Village exploring the shops, meeting Santa or participating in the many activities on offer. Don’t forget to send a postcard from Santa’s Post Office to envious friends back home!
Day at leisure to explore Rovaniemi.
Evening departure on overnight train with private sleeper en suite compartment. A comfortable was to relax and be rearing to explore Helsinki the following day.
Arrive Helsinki where you can leave your luggage at your hotel until check in time. Helsinki’s a small city, easy to get around on foot.
Later this morning, join a sightseeing tour of the city, introducing you to the major sights
Today is at leisure to explore Helsinki on your own. If you prefer, take your own optional self guided day visit across the water to the beautiful medieval town of Tallinn. A short 2 hour ferry ride from Helsinki, Tallinn is well worth visiting with it’s Old City buildings and cobbled streets an absolute delight. The ferry is more like a cruise ship with shopping, entertainment and restaurants – an experience in itself!
A great trip has come to an end and time to head home. Check out and make own way to the airport.
