If you’re looking to feel at one with the pristine Nature of Lapland – under night skies blanketed with myriads of twinkling stars or coloured with the dancing Northern Lights – then look no further than this experience. There is so much to enjoy – local cuisine, huskies, reindeer’s, snowmobiling, searching for the Lights and pure nature. It’s a place where the simple joys of life abound – like sitting outdoors around a fire with a hot drink and good company; drinking in the silence of winter nature or rolling in the snow after a sauna. But unique doesn’t end there – after your icebreaker cruise there’s the surreal opportunity, when wearing a dry suit, you swim in sea surrounded by floating ice. Lapland Winter Adventure’s a mix of experiences all wrapped up in a lifetime of memories!
Arrive Kemi and transfer to your hotel. Remainder of day at leisure.
Morning, visit the SnowCastle 365 exhibition. The ice sculptures, illuminated with colourful lighting, form an enchanting and fairytale atmosphere. If the Ice Bar is open, try a drink served in a glass made of ice. After your visit, transfer to Kemi Port to board the Sampo Icebreaker for your cruise out to sea. Icebreakers are built with reinforced hulls and where ice is very thick, it will drive its bow onto the ice to break it under the weight of the ship. To round off this unusual cruise, you will be given the opportunity to swim, wearing a dry floatation suit, in the sea surrounded by ice. A truly surreal experience.
Late afternoon transfer to Rovaniemi for your overnight stay and opportunity if you would like, to visit Santa Village.
Transfer by scheduled coach to Pyhätunturi for days of fun and magic, enjoying the unique experiences Lapland have to offer. There’ll be lots to fill you days – gliding across the snow on a snowmobile through forests and across lakes; driving your own husky team with a passenger seated in the sleigh; meet reindeers in their natural environment and relax on a sedate sleigh ride through the forest; dig for your own lucky Amethyst in the amazing Amethyst Mine on the top of a fell providing a breath taking view of the surrounding countryside. Even the transfer to the Mine is unique – in a carriage behind a snow tractor! Nature willing, your search for the Northern Lights with your guide will be successful and you’ll view this awe inspiring natural phenomenon. There’ll be plenty of opportunity to try optional activities like downhill or cross country skiing; tobogganing and snowshoe walking. So much to do – so little time!
Check out after breakfast and transfer to Rovaniemi for your flight or train.
