This tour will give you the opportunity to get to know Stockholm the capital of Scandinavia and the north of Sweden and its warm-hearted inhabitants. In the north you will also have the chance to enjoy adrenaline fueled activities in the snow and relax by the fire in a cozy lodge. This is the winter break everyone deserves.
Upon arrival you will make your way to the classic Stockholm hotel Clarion The Sign were you will be staying for two nights. From here you can explore all the areas of Stockholm and see why it is such a loved city by guests and locals alike. Central Stockholm has a lot to offer such as sightseeing, entertainment, shopping, cultural stops and a lot of history. Some of our favourite museums are the National Museum, The Royal Armory, The Maritime Museum and of course the famous Vasa Museum. Whatever tickles your fancy, Stockholm has it. Situated around water it offers an amazing archipelago so take the time to explore more than just the city center.
Enjoy a great breakfast buffet at the hotel and spend the day discovering Stockholm often called the capital of Scandinavia.. Stockholm has many wonderful green areas to discover. A wonderful stop is the lush Hagaparken where you will find Haga Palace part of the Royal National City Park. The Crown Princess Victoria resides here with her family and the park is also the site of many historical landmarks. The Chinese Pavilion, The Turkish Kiosk and the Royal Burial Ground. In the late afternoon swing by the hotel to pick up your luggage and make your way to the train station.
Breakfast at the hotel and afterwards you will have time to enjoy a few more hours in Stockholm until you make your way to the central station to catch the night train to Luleå where you will enjoy the luxury of a private compartment. A tip is to buy some breakfast before getting on the train. On board you will have a private compartment so you can enjoy the journey through the magical landscape.
Upon arrival you will be welcomed and transferred to Brändön Lodge which is located on an island off the coast of the Swedish Lapland. The lodge overlooks the sparkling frozen sea and the numerous islets and skerries of the Luleå archipelago. Your accommodation for the next few nights will be in the cozy cabins which Brändön Lodge provide. The lodge has fifteen cozy cabins embedded in a winter camp atmosphere, offering you a warm home far away from home. The lodge boasts a high-class restaurant which is renowned for its fine dining of using local ingredients.
Enjoy a Scandinavian breakfast at the lodge. This morning you will explore Luleå’s frozen archipelago by hovercraft for two hours. If you are courageous enough you are welcome to take a stroll on the pack ice of the archipelago and if you are lucky you might spot some sea eagles or a seal on your stroll. In the evening you will enjoy a dinner at the lodge.
Start your day with a Scandinavian breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast you will have a guided transfer to Piteå. From there you will get the amazing experience of boarding a three hour ice breaker tour. Here you will be a witness to the massive ice breaking powers of the vessel, get a guided tour all the way down to the engine rooms and all way up to Captain’s bridge. Relax in the cozy saloon, enjoying warm juice or if go for walk on the frozen sea ice during the stop. The ice is perfectly safe and thick enough for cars to drive on. The icebreaker makes a pool free of ice and you can take a swim in the dark icy water in flotation survival suit. We promise – it is an exhilarating experience. The captain will present a Cruise & Swim Certificate to everyone as a memorable gift. You will wrap up this exciting day back at the lodge with a lovely dinner.
After breakfast, transfer from Brändön Lodge to Luleå airport for your flight.
