Norway in a Nutshell will take you on a journey through some of the most beautiful scenery in Fjord Norway. It can be described as taking you from the top to the bottom of Norway – from the mountain tops to the fjords far below. The scenery is break taking whether it be from the Bergen or Flåm Railway, the Aurlandsfjord or the Nærøyfjord or winding along the steep Stalheimsklevia Road. This is the perfect tour for those with limited time and ready to fall in love with Norway. This tour also operates in reverse.
Arrival in Oslo according to your own itinerary. The Norwegian capital is beautifully situated at the head of the Oslo Fjord and surrounded by forested ridges. Arable fields, vast forests and the untouched nature areas surrounding the city are only twenty minutes from the centre. They provide recreational opportunities that are frequently taken advantage of by the city’s inhabitants, as well as increasingly by visitors. Oslo offers many well known sights such as the Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Viking Ship Museum and the Munch Museum.
Breakfast at your hotel. Morning departure from Oslo by train to Myrdal which will take about 5 hours. In Myrdal, swap to the famous Flåm Railway that passes through wild and beautiful scenery with waterfalls and steep mountain sides. It descends from a height of 900 meters down to Flåm at a sidearm of the Sognefjord. There is no other adhesion railway in the world running on normal tracks that is so steep over a long distance.
Breakfast at your hotel. Before continuing your tour, use the morning to discover Flåm and its surroundings. In the afternoon, board the ferry taking you over the Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord to Gudvangen. The Nærøyfjord is the narrowest fjord channel in Europe, and has recently been added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List. From Gudvangen, the journey continues by bus through Nærøyfjord Valley and pass the Stalheimskleiva with its 13 steep hairpin bends. The last part of the excursion will be by train from Voss to Bergen, Norway’s second largest city and the world’s only city surrounded by 7 mountains and 7 fjords.
Breakfast at your hotel. Enjoy a day at leisure. Bergen is, with good reason, called the Gateway to the Fjords. The city is located on the west coast of Norway with close proximity to the famous Norwegian fjords. Sights of interest are the Hanseatic Bryggen area, Fløibanen Funicular, the composer Edvard Grieg’s home Troldhaugen, the Fish market, Bergen Aquarium and Gamle Bergen (Old Bergen Open Air Museum).
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from Bergen according to your own itinerary.
Optional service of Porter Service of your bags from Oslo to Bergen at $60 per bag. Bags will be collected by professional service provider from your hotel in Oslo and will delivered to your hotel in Bergen. This allows you to travel to Flåm with an overnight bag.
