Itinerary

Welcome to Norway, home to some of the world’s most spectacular fjords and breathtaking landscapes!

On arrival, make your own way from the airport to your hotel. Private transfers can be pre-booked for added convenience.

Depending on your arrival time, you may wish to begin exploring Oslo, Norway’s elegant capital. Stroll along Karl Johans gate, the city’s main boulevard, lined with shops, cafés and restaurants, and discover the charming streets surrounding the Royal Palace.

Meet your Tour Leader at the hotel reception for an introductory meeting and tour briefing. If you arrive late, details of an alternative meeting time and place will be provided.

Travel north by train through Norway’s beautiful countryside, enjoying views of the country’s rural landscapes, Lake Mjøsa and the scenic Vinstra region along the way.

Upon arrival in Trondheim, enjoy a two-hour panoramic city tour, discovering a city steeped in Viking history. Highlights include the impressive Nidaros Cathedral, one of Northern Europe’s finest Gothic landmarks, along with glimpses of Trondheim’s historic centre and picturesque old town.

The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore the city’s pedestrian streets, browse local shops or relax at one of its welcoming cafés.

Board the famous Hurtigruten coastal cruise and begin your journey along Norway’s spectacular coastline. Sail through the broad Trondheim Fjord, passing rolling farmland and charming coastal scenery before reaching the open sea.

Disembark in Kristiansund and join the drive along the remarkable Atlantic Ocean Road, often regarded as one of the world’s most beautiful coastal drives. This unforgettable route winds across small islands and rocky skerries, linked by a series of dramatic bridges that seem to rise from the sea. Rejoin your cruise in Molde.

Continue your coastal voyage through a fascinating landscape of rugged mountains, rocky islands and winding waterways. As the journey progresses, Norway’s magnificent fjord scenery reveals itself, with dramatic landscapes stretching inland.

Arrive in Bergen, a historic harbour city known as the gateway to Norway’s famous fjords. With its colourful waterfront, rich maritime heritage and charming atmosphere, Bergen offers a wonderful combination of culture and natural beauty.

Meet your local guide for a two-hour city tour, visiting some of Bergen’s most iconic landmarks. Discover the historic Bryggen waterfront, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with St Mary’s Church, Håkon’s Fortress and the lively Fish Market, where local seafood and regional specialities take centre stage.

Begin the day with a ride on the Fløibanen funicular, one of Bergen’s most popular attractions. In just a few minutes, you’ll ascend Mount Fløyen, approximately 320 metres above sea level, where panoramic views stretch across the city, harbour and surrounding mountains.

Back in the city, enjoy a taste of local seafood specialities, with options such as smoked salmon and fresh prawns, before setting off on a scenic fjord cruise.

Sail from Bergen through the beautiful Osterfjord towards the narrow Mostraumen strait. Along the way, admire colourful waterfront buildings, steep mountain slopes, secluded waterways and cascading waterfalls. The journey offers a wonderful opportunity to appreciate Norway’s spectacular scenery from the water.

Return to Bergen in the afternoon, with the remainder of the day free to explore at your own pace.

Enjoy a relaxed morning in Bergen, with time to explore the city independently or visit Bergen Aquarium (optional admission), home to a variety of Nordic and tropical marine life.

Later, transfer to the pier to board a high-speed passenger boat for a scenic journey along Norway’s western coast and into the magnificent Sognefjord region.

As you travel away from Bergen, pass islands, traditional fishing communities and sheltered coastal waterways. The landscape gradually becomes more dramatic, with steep mountainsides rising above deep blue waters. Further along the fjord, discover charming villages, fruit orchards and waterfalls, with snow-capped peaks visible in the distance.

Arrive in Leikanger, a peaceful fjordside village surrounded by fruit farms, forested hillsides and beautiful mountain scenery.

Enjoy a leisurely morning in Leikanger, one of the picturesque orchard villages along the Sognefjord. Take in the peaceful waterfront setting and surrounding mountain views before boarding the express boat to Flåm.

On arrival, enjoy some free time for lunch and the opportunity to sample local cider produced from the region’s orchards.

In the afternoon, experience the famous Flåm Railway, widely regarded as one of the world’s most spectacular train journeys. Travel through a dramatic landscape of steep mountains, deep valleys, rushing waterfalls and rugged peaks, passing numerous tunnels and scenic viewpoints along the way.

At Myrdal, change trains for the onward journey to Oslo. The route crosses the vast Hardangervidda mountain plateau, Northern Europe’s largest mountain plateau, offering views of open tundra, alpine lakes and remote mountain scenery before descending towards eastern Norway.

Arrive in Oslo late in the evening after an unforgettable day of scenic travel by boat and rail.

Discover more of Norway’s capital with a three-hour guided sightseeing tour. Visit Frogner Park, home to the remarkable collection of more than 200 sculptures by Norwegian artist Gustav Vigeland, and see other city highlights, including the Royal Palace, City Hall and historic Akershus Fortress.

The remainder of the day is free to enjoy Oslo at your own pace. Browse the shops for Scandinavian souvenirs, explore the waterfront or relax at one of the city’s cafés.
